This two-day Scrum Master certification course provides everything you need to get started with Scrum. The largest and fastest-growing of the Agile frameworks, Scrum encompasses simple techniques with a small set of interrelated practices and rules. Scrum is not overly prescriptive and is able to produce productivity gains for teams almost immediately.
This course shares practices for managing product backlogs, refining your Product Backlog, planning your Sprints and tracking and reporting progress. You’ll learn how to facilitate Sprint Planning Events, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives and more!
On completion of the course and the exam (which is taken by the participant online after the course), participants are registered as Certified ScrumMasters (CSMs) with the Scrum Alliance. This entitles the student to a two-year membership in the Scrum Alliance,
(www.scrumalliance.org) where valuable ScrumMaster material and information are available exclusively to CSMs.
Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, students should be able to:
- Compare and contrast Lean Development, Agile Development, and the Scrum Framework.
- Discuss how the Scrum Master encourages the use of Scrum and the understanding of Agile Development in order to facilitate Scrum team success.
- Discuss how the Scrum Master coaches the Scrum Team and the organization in the use and understanding of Agile Development and the Scrum framework.
- Discuss the Scrum Master’s responsibilities to the Development Team, to the Product Owner, and to the greater organization.
Logistics
The CSM training is a two-day, classroom-setting workshop for 6-30 students. Usually the classroom is set-up as tables of 4-6 students to enable small team discussions during the training. The class runs 8 hours each day, including 30-60 minutes for lunch and various smaller breaks.
Note: The Scrum Alliance requires that training is delivered in-person. Students must be present in the classroom; remote attendees cannot be certified under any conditions.
Post Course Assessment
The CSM post-course assessment is administered by the Scrum Alliance and is offered online to be taken at the student’s convenience. Time is usually not set aside during the training day to take the test. Students will receive an email after the class with information regarding how to complete the assessment. Successful completion is required to earn the certification.
