Workshop Summary:
Simply defined, coaching is one person guiding another through a process, leading to performance enhancement. The ability to coach others is a core competency for those helping organizations to grow, successfully navigate through change, and implement professional development initiatives for its employees. Coaching helps clarify vision, beliefs, and values, and stretches the capacity to lead and influence others at all levels and at various stages of their career.
Obtaining the knowledge and tools to effectively coach others is an invaluable asset that not only benefits the person serving as the coach, but also his/her peers, reports, mentees, and/or team members. At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will have the benefit of a powerful, integrated learning experience providing the means to have better conversations, build stronger relationships, influence and motivate others, and serve as a catalyst for better business results.
Workshop Objectives:
• Explain the core principles and benefits of coaching in the workplace.
• Recognize the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence in effective coaching.
• Differentiate coaching from mentoring, counseling, and consulting.
• Identify the key components of a successful coaching relationship, including trust, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Describe the essential competencies of effective coaches, such as integrity, honesty, empathy, nonjudgment, and openness.
• Determine when and how coaching is the most appropriate and effective developmental approach.
• Apply structured rituals and techniques to begin, manage, and conclude a coaching session.
• Outline the coaching process, including common strategies and approaches.
• Identify common challenges and obstacles faced by coaches and apply methods to overcome them.
• Demonstrate effective communication, questioning, and listening skills for successful coaching interactions.
• Conduct a practical coaching session with a peer or team member.
• Develop a personal coaching plan for use as a peer, supervisor, or mentor within the workplace.
