Achieving Emotional Balance at Work


To be our most effective at work, we have to be able to master our own emotions.  Based on research with CEOs, board members, and other top leaders, about the characteristics of the best leaders, the number one response is the ability to stay calm and collected. In a crisis, being able to manage your own emotions and stay calm, focused, and spread serenity to others is critical.  Our brains can literally get “hijacked” when our prefrontal cortex, the “amygdala,” gets the signal to be angry or afraid.  This course will explore proven techniques for strengthening our ability to intervene and to manage these disturbing emotions, such as training our body to calm down, reframing, mindfulness, and “talking back” to our thoughts.  With practice, these techniques will enhance our ability to lead ourselves and others with calmness and clarify.
